SWME Visits ALAD Leadership in Latin America

 
Shavala Magri, Executive Director of SWME, met with leaders of Asociación Latinoamericana de Diabetes (ALAD) in the Dominican Republic and Argentina to close an agreement between the two organizations as well as the Sociedad de Diabetología y Nutrición del Uruguay (SDNU), to deliver an online continuing education course in Latin America aiming to improve the treatment Type II Diabetes within the region.
 
This unique online course, "Practical Application of the 2013 ALAD Guidelines:  Diagnosis, Treatment and Control of Type II Diabetes,” will run from October to November 2014. 
 
Ms. Magri visited Dr. Felix Escaño, President of ALAD in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and Dr. Ana Lia Cagide, Vice President of ALAD in Buenos Aires, Argentina. 
 
In addition to serving as President of ALAD, Dr. Escaño is Adjuct Professor of the Universidad Católica de Santo Domingo, Republica Dominicana, President of the Sociedad Dominicana de Endocrinología y Nutrición and President and Academic Director of the Fundación Dominicana de Endocrinología y Diabetes. 
 
Dr. Cagide serves in leadership positions at the Centro de Endocrinología y Diabetes - Buenos Aires, Universidad de Buenos Aires and Sociedad Argentina de Diabetes. 
 
The partnership between ALAD, SWME and SDNU represents an unprecedented Pan-American collaboration to bring the latest knowledge in Type II Diabetes to physicians and other health care professionals.
