Open sponsorship opportunities for physicians, fellows and residents from Central America, South America and/or the Caribbean.  

The American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and the Society for Worldwide Medical Exchange (SWME) are proud to offer 10 sponsorships for the upcoming ACR/ARHP Annual Meeting, which will take place October 25-30, 2013 in San Diego, California. 

To qualify for sponsorship, the physician must:

  • Originate from South America, Central America and/or the Caribbean 
  • Currently deliver high quality medical care, preferably in underserved, disadvantaged and/or rural communities
  • Treat patients suffering from Rheumatic diseases. Specialty certification within the field of Rheumatology is not required.
  • Be fully licensed to practice medicine, according to the regulations in his or her country
  • Have an economic need for financial support to attend the conference.

Sponsorship benefits include:

  • Round trip airfare
  • Hotel accommodations
  • Conference registration
  • Airport transfer
  • Daily per diem to cover expenses such as meals and transportation to the convention center
  • Financial support and legal assistance to obtain a U.S. travel visa
  • Onsite guidance and support from ACR and SWME staff
  • Any other necessary expenses subject to ACR and SWME approval

All interested candidates are encouraged to apply.

Applications will be submitted for review to the Executive Committee of the Pan American League of Associations for Rheumatology (PANLAR), who will make the final recommendation for sponsorship.
