Who We Are
The Society for Worldwide Medical Exchange
The Society for Worldwide Medical Exchange (SWME) was founded in 2009 with the mission of expanding access to continuing medical education worldwide and improving health care in developing countries. As a 501 (C) 3 non-profit organization, SWME has been dedicated to developing medical education in key specialty areas in collaboration with major medical associations including the American College of Rheumatology and the Movement Disorder Society, as well as universities, hospitals and other educational providers. With an emphasis on effective, local and sustainable health care delivery, SWME also supports health care providers in developing countries through physician sponsorship and educational grants.
Established through private funding under the direction of Dr. Alfonso Negri, Chairman of the Advisory Board, SWME is currently sustained through unrestricted grants and diversified revenues generated through educational programs and program management fees. SWME is an independent organization and is not supported or affiliated with any particular commercial organization or pharmaceutical corporations.
SWME is managed by its Executive Director in collaboration with the Advisory Board. The scientific and strategic educational program content for SWME’s educational programs are the responsibility of the Advisory Board, which are highly qualified experts in different areas relevant to SWME’s mission.
