We are actively seeking partners to help
scale this initiative to additional schools.
SWME’s humanitarian work supports the health of vulnerable communities through practical, scalable solutions that address the root causes of illness. Our initiatives go beyond medical care—they focus on access, education, and empowerment.
Launched in 2025, this initiative provides LifeStraw Community filtration systems to schools along the Marañón River in Peru. Each unit produces up to 100,000 liters of safe drinking water—no electricity required. By reducing waterborne illnesses, we help children stay in school and communities build resilience.
• Contaminated water is a leading cause of preventable illness in children.
• Schools often lack infrastructure to provide clean drinking water.
• Meeting basic health needs improves educational and long-term health outcomes.
SWME has a long history of providing unrestricted grants to educational programs in developing countries, as well as sponsoring
continuing medical education (CME) for physicians whose work delivers humanitarian impact. These doctors often serve in
resource-limited settings and would not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in world-class professional development
activities.
Accra, Ghana | September 16–18, 2013
This hands-on training equipped general practitioners in Ghana with the tools to recognize, diagnose, and manage neurodegenerative disorders—especially Parkinson’s disease—within their communities. Organized in partnership with the World Federation of Neurology, the Movement Disorder Society, and Fondazione Grigioni per il Morbo di Parkinson, the program emphasized early intervention in regions with limited access to neurologists.
2011 & 2012 | Scientific Sessions, United States
Through SWME sponsorships, frontline doctors from Ghana were able to attend the ADA Scientific Sessions—one of the world’s leading conferences on diabetes care and research. These opportunities provided critical access to the latest guidelines and innovations, which participants then brought back to strengthen care for patients in their local health systems.
SWME invites industry leaders, associations, and mission-driven companies to sponsor grants that help doctors from underserved regions access world-class CME opportunities.
• Cover travel and conference costs for eligible physicians
• Meet compliance standards for independent education funding
• Build capacity in regions that need it most
• Proven track record in global education and logistics
• Deep compliance expertise (aligned with MedTech, EFPIA, APACMed)
• Personalized partnership opportunities
